Who would have thought that an everyday folder would bring out such total and brutal honesty? Picture this...first day of homeschool co-op. Tikvah is in kindergarten now -- a big girl! She is at "CHARACTER" class and the teacher announces that she's purchased folders for everyone. Taking it a bit further, so as to be REALLY nice, she bought a blue folder for each boy and a purple folder for each girl! My daughter repeated the words that I'm sure she's heard come out of my mouth many times... "I don't like purple!" Oh boy. How does one go about explaining that yes, one needs to be honest, but one doesn't always need to empty her mouth with every thought that comes through her head? I've since scored big mom points by dressing up this unloved folder with Dora stickers and rub-ons. While its still QUITE purple, its now a favorite folder. We're still working on the honesty issue!
