The tree has another layer underneath. The green area swings away to reveal journaling underneath:

Sometimes it seems the traditions surrounding Christmas are a lot of bother, and why keep doing them? I feel it gives our family some sense of belonging, of knowing what to expect year after year, of looking forward to the way that we “always” do a certain thing. Our Christmas tree is one such tradition. No matter what, the day after Thanksgiving finds us, not at the mall shopping, but at the tree farm. We spend the rest of the day decorating, listening to Christmas carols, and watching “It's a Wonderful Life.” Our tree is then the backdrop for many photos throughout the rest of the holiday season.

Love it! I, too, feel that Christmas traditions are a MUST!
